2017 Wrap-up/ 2018 Book Resolutions
Hello there, welcome hope you all had a safe and lovely holiday. It's really cold over here in Toronto and you'd think after living in Canada for 10 years now I'd be used to the cold, haha getmeoutofhere (Dallas 2018). Sooo anyway 2017 was an interesting year, to say the least. It was full of positives and negatives, everything was happening all at once, to be honest, the year was a mess. As for my reading habits those were also a mess. Ever since I've entered university I've kinda entered a reading slump. The only time I did some reading was whenever I was on my commute to and from campus. But that was then and this is now, the reading slump is still present but I'm trying to get myself out of it. I made more attempts this year to read more and not just YA books but I've gotten into thrillers and mysteries so I read some of those and I read some non-fiction. Basically, I was reading whatever I was in the mood for and I had a lot of fun experiencing the genres. My favorite book I read this year was the biography of Malcolm X by Walter Dean Myers. It was really inspiring and I feel that I got to understand Malcolm X's philosophies better, a 5/5 for me. It was my main goal in 2017 to read more from authors of color (and poetry but that's a different post for a different day). Representation of people of color whether that be through story characters or the authors themselves is very important. I didn't read too many but I did buy a lot in hopes of reading them in the near future, I'm excited to read them. Also, I'd like to point out I did start reading a couple other books this year I just haven't finished them yet due to my aforementioned reading slump. So I'm currently reading like 7 books at once, I planned to have them finished by now but life has other plans.
For 2018 my resolution is to read more. The reason I started this blog and the ig was to get me to become more excited about reading. My nose finna be up in a book all 2018 for real. I'll be here reading my book, chillin, living my best life.
Wishing you all a prosperous 2018 full of laughter, good books, and whatever else your heart desires.
